Two Subnets one DHCP

Alright guys I have searched and searched for the answer I have gone cross eyed looking for it. Here is the deal..

We just moved some of our servers upstairs with about 10 workstations. we also have a Sonic Wall PRO 2040 acting as our DHCP for the upstairs (why you ask I don't know) Well the problem lies with the IP Addy's the DHCP server downstairs is sitting on a 192.168.1.x and upstairs is sitting on a 192.168.3.x I have messed with the lan and wan options on the servers and a couple of the workstations I can not ping any of the servers on the bottom floor, all I want to do is have the 192.168.3.x on the same Network as the 192.168.1.x or at least have the classes of IP's talk. How can I accomplish this any feedback would be greatly appreciated and I hope I explained this to were you can understand my problem. My last resort would be to drop cable from the upstairs to the downstairs. :confused:
 
That's what the DHCP is already sitting at I want to change it to 255.255.248.0. I read that doing that would open up the flood gates for IP addys but to be honest I really do not want to take down my super scope and re-build it.
 
I think I'm gonna need a little more info. Have a topological diagram maybe? It sounds based on the subnet mask that you have two DHCP servers on one subnet, which confuses me greatly. ;)
 
Let me see if I can explain this better cause I stink at explaining things. But I do greatly appreciate the help.

Upstairs we have a Sonic Wall Pro 2040 acting as our DHCP server for the upstairs but what I'm trying to accomplish is taking that out of the picture and just using it as our VPN because right know we have to sign onto our VPN so we can hit the downstairs network sitting at 192.168.1.x but we are on 192.168.3.x I read if you change the subnet of the DHCP scope to 255.255.248.0 it will open it up but I don't want to delete the scope and rebuild it cause im one of those lazy it guys :chk: I hope I explained this better if not I will make a layout for you. :D

So the upstairs box is providing the route to the downstairs? Maybe attach the routing table from one of the client machines?
 
Yes. That is correct we have to sign into our VPN to hit the network downstairs. With out the VPN we cant even ping the DHCP server downstairs.
 
These people right now have to route traffic through one router to the other. Essentially it sounds like what you want to do is completely remove one router and consolidate behind the other. Sounds like you're going to have to re-engineer the network. One flat network is easier of course, if you don't want any segmentation anyway. But I don't know nearly enough about your network or your situation to make a proper assessment.

Not a problem. If you need help re-engineering, post a topological diagram with IPs, subnets and maybe a routing table. That way I can be a lot more specific. Otherwise, I think you can get it handled if you put your mind do it.
