On one of my dev servers running server 2003, I can't delete this folder on the desktop, I'm getting that "directory is not empty" error. I tried taking ownership of it, though I'm not sure what difference it'd make since I'm logged in as administrator. How can I delete this stupid thing?
Ahhh, Windows. If I was in your situation, I would boot to a live Linux distro with ntfs-3g support, e.g. eLive, mount your Windows partition, and delete the file from within Linux.
I made a test FTP user and ftp'd up and deleted it. Not sure why admin user wouldn't work in winblows, oh well :chk:
Also, changing ownership on these empty folders locks up the system, CPU caps at 100%. The folders are all 100% empty.
Like I said, system locks up. Ever since this folder issue came up, the system has been VERY slow, CPU capping at 100% for no reason at all, I'm just reloading it, tired of dealing with it.
OK a few things to check. Is the folder set to Read Only? Have you taken ownership of the folder and all child objects? Have you granted the administrator account Full Control for the folder and all child objects? Have you checked for any stubborn hidden files and folders, or files that have been explicitly set "do not inherit parent permissions"?
