Bought new PC components a week ago and now my games wont be smooth. I always get frame drops, but only if the settings of the game are set very low and vsync is set to off. My Compnents: Geforce GTX 970 HyperX FURY DDR4 Memory (2x 4Gb) Intel i5 6600 MSI Mainboard Z170-A PRO Video:
Its mostly GTA but i cant really tell because i dont have that many games(4). Just in BeamNG it is a bit different (Same effect just less much and only in windoed mode) But still, it was working on my old components without a problem. (I also asked on about 9 Forums already)
Not so bad then. No problem with temps either. Old drivers (other than video card) can also cause strange hiccups si update also sound card and network card drivers.
This is getting very hard then. Something that can also cause hiccups are hard disks that work improperly. Try another SATA cable for hard disk and possible DVD drive.
Try Hci memtest, it tests on Windows. And because you have Intel system, check that CPU socket pins are OK.
Hci Metest found no errors after scanning trough the night. CPU Socket pins are ok The Support on the MSI Forum told me this. Please enter the BIOS to disable the options EUP2013,Intel C-State,C1E Support and EIST for a try.and if you have other graphics card,we suggest you take other graphics card to check again,if the issue still appear? I tried that, but after changing to my old Graphics card my PC got unusable. Taskmanager tells that CPU uses 2.30GHZ normally and when i start a game it says 0,80GHz? But the Processor can go up to 3,9 Ghz so that doesnt make any sense. (Using main Graphic card)
That CPU clock speed may explain everything. However on that video CPU clock seems just fine. Perhaps update intervall is too long. Try to log CPU frequency with CPU-Z.
I found out whats the problem, the Cpu Temp is on 95°C and i dont know why. I also tried to look at the CPU socket pins and since then this is happening. Whats wrong now? Fan is Working Edit: "Facepalm" the fan wasnt connected properly.
Probably cooler's contact against CPU is poor. Put some thermal paste and you can see if contact is poor somewhere.
So CPU runs fine again. Memtest didnt find anything and socket pins are OK. Tested my old graphic card and i dont have any frame drops there.
So CPU is not problem anymore and graphic card may be problem, right? Check video card power connectors.
