I am doing a DIY router using pfSense, and need to choose a PSU. These two seem to be the only ones that will fit my case, and have mostly good buyer reviews: Seasonic SS-300TFX Seasonic SS-300TGW Could use some help picking one. My case is Apex DM-317-A, for any curious.
Someone on another forum said both Seasonic PSUs are too wide to fit the case. Can you doublecheck that?
Current PSU dimensions: 5.75" x 3.25" x 2.5" Seasonic PSU dimensions: 6.9" x 3.3" x 2.5" So it is possible Seasonic is too big. Many "slim" type cases accept ATX PSU so getting new case may give much better PSU options.
I agree. Time to ditch this case. Second choice is HEC Compucase 7K09BBA30FNRX. Haven't been able to track down size of its included PSU, so not sure if either will fit, but hoping for either Seasonic SS-300TFX or SS-300TGW...what do you think? My third choice for case is Apex MJ-16, but not liking its big size at all, so I would see it as last resort.
For HEC, PSU is HEC-300W TFX 85x175x65mm (3.3x6.9x2.5) Same size as Seasonic. So Seasonic should fit in that case.
Excellent! HEC may not look as good as the other case, but it will do. Do you have any preference between the two Seasonic models? I could flip a coin, but would like to hear your thoughts. Once I pick the power supply my build will be complete (on paper). Could I impose on you to look it over, and check for incompatibilities or potential problems?

You'll need different motherboard yes. I cannot recommend LGA1150 as it's so old already and motherboard availability will be problem in the future. Other than that system looks basically OK. Not sure if CPU cooler is small enough to fit case though.
