interesting expirence with VMware firstly i installed it on mandriva (safer than using windows) but then i thought i know 98 best, so i booted partitioning CD resized the extended partition and installed 98, half way through installing 98 i suddenly remembered, i need grfx drivers, so i rebooted Mandriva (to get drivers), when Mandriva booted i got messages about ¨unable to write to /home/dave/ (something to do with permissions)¨ and the net didn´t work, so i figured i´d get net working and worry about the other stuff later, i logged in as root (long story cut short) anyway i deleted all network connections and logged back into mandriva recreated net connection, and everything works, unable to write error has gone, left with 1 problem though ! i´ve now got Mandriva and 1 installation of 98 on same HDD but, in mandriva boot menu there is 2 entries for windows, windows & windows1, windows boots 98 but windows1, i get an error, Invalid Boot disc, replace and press any key how do i edit the boot menu (lilo) in mandriva ?
The graphical way is through the Mandriva Control Center, aka mcc, aka Configure Your Computer. The non-graphical way to do it is by editing the /etc/lilo.conf file and running the lilo command afterwards. For a new Linux user, I recommend the graphical way.
