    I recently changed my motherboard using this method... TweakXP.com - Changing Motherboards , (everything is working fine), and now I want to replace my Maxtor 60gb hd with a Seagate SATA 320gb...., I bought a sata cable, and a sata power cord, but their is another input on the hd; jumper block? Does anyone know if I need a cable for that, if so where do I get one?

    Also, is there anything I have to know before replacing a hd, besides backing important files up. I plan on using this method to replace my hd... Seagate DiscWizard

    Thanks.

    if its a sata hard drive, then u dont need to set any jumpers as al drives has only one cable, however if its a pata, then just set the jumper to master which is printed on the hd. all u need to do is change the jumper position if u havent got a jumper, den get one off ur old hd

    Whatever you do, remember to take precaution against static energy. Wear static band or touch the case oftenly while fiddeling around with it.

    Here is a picture on how to connect SATA drives

    I have got this picture from [link=http://www.seagate.com/support/kb/disc/faq/sata_lock.html]this[/link] website. I know its just taking you little bit away from your topic but, it tells how to use the jumpers....

    1.)its a sata2; is my motherboard capable of connecting at 3Gb/sec. (just click on "my computer" to see my mobo)

    2.)And how can I connect at that speed, the pic exactly describes my hd, it has something on the outer side, and it seems like the only way I can connect at 3gb/s is to take off that part on the outside? but it seems like its molded in? What am I suppose to do

    Thanks.

    [link=http://www.seagate.com/support/howto/install_guide/sata_slideshow.html]look at this slide show[/link]

    Edit: I dont think that you need to worry about jumpers as long as you have one HDD with the new SATA card installed.

    SATA hard drives are factory set for workstation/desktop
    use. For enterprise storage requirements, the jumpers can be set to
    enable spread spectrum clocking or power-up in standby modes.

    So you dont worry about it. Sorry for distracting you. Just go ahead and fit your HDD in your comp. because you have everything required, sata cable & power cord. Leave the third pace as it is~!
