They seem similar spec wise. I'd go for Toshiba given the choice but if you can wait until say xmas, theres bound to some good deals around. I'd also checkout amazon warehouse details, can find the odd bargain there.

1) really not sure 2/3) agree I reckon they can probably be useful because of portability (I'd imagine it display a full-size keyboard?) vs carrying a full size keyboard.
