i havent altered anything and im trying to use windows media player (thats what i was using before)

First of all HI!!! im Stephen, and sorry if im posting in the wrong area i thought this section would be the closest thing to my problem, when im downloading movie files from the internet they wont play on my computer unless they are MPG or MPEG formats .AVI files will not play on my computer...
