I had a problem with my laptop, which led me to using the Windows XP recovery disk supplied plus the Utilities disc as supplied. It solved the problem I had, but created a couple of others. Firstly my Hibernation facility disappeared despite me going through the process of enabling it. Secondly ,when I boot up, the windows size (max and mim) always start on mim and I have to maximise it manually. but on booting up again all the windows are on the minimum size again. Of course I can live with this, but it is very annoying. any ideas folks Frank Mac
This might help in fixing your Hibernation problem of win XP [link=http://support.microsoft.com/kb/907477/]How to troubleshoot hibernation and standby issues in Windows XP[/link] Edit: And also try this, Open My Computer and go to Tools > Folder Options, under view tab press Restore all defaults.. Then next time when you see your window in small size, max it nd see if it goes when u restart...
Enable square is ticked but doesn't solve the problem with certain exceptions eg it works with outlook express and microsoft outlook also with a couple of other programs I have downloaded, but not with Google or Hotmail. Am trying on trouble shooting from Karenislove but as yet everything appears normal. and problem remains
Okay for the thing with folders, if you go into Folder Options and then click the "view" tab, one of the many boxes you can check-mark says "remember each folder's view settings". Do you have that check-marked? Perhaps that will do the trick? You have to apply it to all folders. If you access Folder Options through the control panel then it automatically applies to all folders.
This is another thing you can try for folders or programs that are opening minimized. If you have a shortcut to a file or folder that is opening up minimized, right click it and choose properties. On the shortcut tab, there is a dropdown box next to run. In here, you can choose minimized, maximized, or normal mode. By setting this, the shortcut will open the folder or program in the method that you set. I'm not sure if this is how your opening your folders that are coming minimized, but I hope it helps. Which windows are starting minimized? Any in particular?
Sometimes if your pc stops responding in hibernate or has an error when trying to active it from standby your pc will disable these options and wont allow them to be re-enabled again
