I have two hard drives in my new computer, but only one is showing up under My Computer. I can see the second one in my device manager, but I can't seem to access it. What do I need to do in order to be able to use it?

    Thanks.

Have you got the Primary/Slave jumpers set correctly on the hard drives?

My PC won't detect any hard drives if there's a jumper in it. So I just take the jumpers out and hey presto, it's sorted.

Does the hard drive have a yellow exclamation mark next to it in device manager?

Does it appear as an option to scan in chkdsk?

And finally, does it appear in the BIOS?

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Actually, strike that.

Right click "my computer" and select manage. On the left, select disk management. There should be a setup wizard that pops up. Just cross it off and scroll down to your HDD in the bottom part of the management window. Right click in the white area with the HDD details in (There's usually a blue bar at the top of the white area) and create partition. Create a partition the whole size of the HDD if you want to partition it that way, then assign a drive letter and format the drive.

Sorry I can't explain it better, but that should work. Luckily I got a new HDD today so had to solve the problem myself :)
