When I try to put the computer in standby. Windows shuts down but the computer stays on. When I would put the computer in standby before, windows and the computer would shutdown. Is there a setting in windows that can fix this. I am running winxp sp2 and motherboard ASUS 4pc800-deluxe. Please help if you can. Thank You.

You might want to look at the Hibernate option instead. Press and hold shift at the shutdown box, and standby turns into hibernate.

When I tried that the computer still fully shutdown. I need the computer to go into sleep mode. I did not have to hold down SHIFT before. Could there be another way? Please help if you can. Thank You

If you are talking about pressing the power button then u can change the options for that button from.... RightClick Desktop > Properties > Screen Saver Tab > Power button > Advanced Tab......Select wat u want........Or if you jst want to change settings when u leave ur computer untouched for longer time then look at the Power Schemes of the same place... There are Some other features available as well.....
