How to add IP

    Its me again asking for help on Linux... How do you add an IP address using terminal?

    why, devices usually have their IP's set in software (usually via a web configurator) then the IP is automatically on the network when you conect the device

    Coz im using the CentOS server edition and I need to assign a static IP to it. Server edition doesnt have a GUI.

    well, i'm not familliar with CentOS, although i'll check the net[ot]i thought you wanted to create an IP rather than assign an IP[/ot]

    Your question was not descriptive enough, but if you want to manually change the IP address of a network interface then you can do
    Code:
    ifconfig eth0 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx up
