I'm thinking about buying a TV card for my PC. This one looks as if it might be worth a try. eBay.co.uk: HDTV FREEVIEW DVB-T DIGITAL TV USB CARD TUNER PC LAPTOP (item 190069311636 end time 12-Jan-07 23:45:00 GMT) Can anyone recommend a TV card and perhaps give some info on what sort of programs I could receive? Basically, it's a new area to me so I'm just looking for a starting point. Thanks, David.
Hauppauge are probably the best supported TV card manufacturer for Linux. Their Nova-T range works with a whole host of programs such as Kaffeine to the full media centre application MythTV. I'd avoid USB receivers if you can. They should work fine in Windows but aren't supported as much in Linux. PCI cards are really the way to go. This is what i've got: Hauppauge Digital: WinTV Nova-T PCI
Yeah the Hauppage one and the GDI Black Gold seem to be the two most people use. Geexbox supports loads of cards if you want to use linux.
I think the amount of channels will depend on the signal quality. This card looks pretty good eBay.co.uk: Hauppauge WinTV Digital TV Tuner WinTV-HVR-1300 OEM you can also buy it from ebuyer.com - Graphics Cards » Satellite Digital Receivers » Satellite/Digital Receivers » Product details
Okay, guys - thank you - some good information to go on. However, I do not have a terrestrial TV aeriel - I only have my Sky Digibox. I wonder if I could somehow link that up to a TV card - failing that - I might try broadband TV - anyone tried it?
Which TV card? - related question.... Just joining this thread .... I could do with some help on a similar subject as DavidNW - Zeus - perhaps you can help here ? I have a Hauppauge WIN TV PCI FM card that I am trying to receive an input from a DigiHome digibox (connected to a terrestrial aerial). I have tried an RF cable and an S-Video cable however the Tv card can't pick up anything other than poor signal. Is there a specific channel/frequency I can tune my Tv card to ? ...or am I trying to achieve the impossible ? The TV card picks up terrestrial fine. Thanks
