I have been having problems with my PS/2 keyboard. At first, when one fine day it randomly stopped working, I thought it had died, but eventually I tested it some more and figured out that it hadn't died at all; it had simply stopped working temporarily. In subsequent incidents of it failing, I have found that after I jiggle the keyboard's PS/2 plug thingy in the back of the computer a little, or maybe unplug it and plug it back in, it starts working again. Oddly enough, it seems to fail only after a reset or fresh turn on of the computer even if i didn't touch or move it at all. As far as I can tell, it has only once failed while the computer was already loaded up and running. And that was the very first time it happened, and since then I've been experiencing this problem occasionally.

So is there anything I can do to fix it? If it does fail while the computer is running, it would start working again only after a reset since PS/2 devices don't work when u plug them in while the computer is on. That could possibly really suck if that happens while I'm typing an essay for homework or something, or even if I'm playing a game. I'm guessing that the PS/2 port on my computer has become slightly defective with age/use...

Mouse and Keyboard....both use the same PS/2 port...You should try and swap them to see if there is any fault with the port....
