Hey guys. Lets me start out with the basics i have a DFI lanparty UT expert socket 939 MB with Athlon x2 4600 Toledo Processor. XFX Geforce 7950gt 512MB. I purchased PQI turbo DDR400 2GB 184pin Dual channel memory. Computer runs fine if i put the ram in a single channel. If i put the RAM in dimms 1 and 3 The computer power light blinks and dont go past the main MB screen. If i put the RAM in dimms 2 and 4(which is what it is supposed to be for Dual Channel support on this MB) the computer will boot to logon screen, i will get an error message that begins to count down and shortly after freezes. What is the problem with this? Is there some kind of BIOS setting that needs to be changed under the DRAM Configuration?. Wanna help me out with this guys? thx

run Memtest with one 1 stick inserted, then replace that stick with another stick[ot]if 1 stick is faulty, it'll be easier to tell which 1 is faulty[/ot]

Thx for the help so far guys. Im currently IPO running memory test on my computer with both sticks installed. My next post will have the results of the tests, but i noticed somthing fishy. Under the "settings: RAM" in memtest86+ its reading my sticks at 160MHZ (DDR321). This is incorrect. My RAM IS DDR400, is this due to the fact it is running at 64 rather that the 128 you get with dual channel?. I read the MB manual and it says that if both channels are full it will slow down the RAM to about DDR333 (i guess DDR321 is close?). Is this the same when you apply 2 sticks in one channel? I wouldnt think so but this is just some added information i feel could help with the problem. Stay tuned. ill have the results post up in an hour or so.

OK. Tests are in. I perform 3 standard tests. I allowed each to test 2 times. First test I tried, both RAMs were inserted in Channel A, DIMMS 1 and 2. It had no errors and a combined walltime of 2hours 16minutes (it read under Settings: RAM: 160MHZ (DDR321)). On both single RAM tests the RAM was put in DIMM 2 (i tried DIMM 1 first but it gave me a semi errored looking LANPARTY screen. As the memtest began to load it froze and put different color squares on my screen) The combined walltime on both RAMs was 44Minutes 2seconds (this time under "Settings: RAM the clockspeed was 200MHZ (DDR401) which is the correct speed of my RAM. It was the same for both sticks.) Any ideas now guys? thx

What's your full specs, including power supply brand and model?

Also, what are your Genie BIOS settings, particularly the DRAM Configuration?

My specs are: BFG 650 watt 12V PS...DFI Lanparty UT NF4 expert Socket 939 MB... AMD Athlon64 x2 4600 Toledo 2.4GHz... PQI Turbo 2GB DDR400 SDRAM (PC3200) dual channel kit... Western Digital Caviar se16 250GB 7200RPM SATA3... Sony 16x DVD burner...XFX GeForce 7950GT... Creative SB Audigy...The only thing i changed in the genie BIOS was CPC from auto to disable(where it has been from the begining), as it said in the manual. You have a Lanparty so everything else is on its default value, which is mostly auto.
I seemed to have fixed the problem, but it worries my why that was happening. I was screwing around with the memtest86 again, i put the ram in DIMMS 2 and 4. It recognised Dual channel, scanned again had no errors. so i booted the computer up in safe mode, still with RAM in DIMMS 2 and 4. It ran safe mode fine, so i rebooted normally and it worked, just like that.. in fact it took half the time to load windows than what it was with the memory in SC. But still... the only thing i hadnt done before was boot in safe mode. So apparently that fixed my computer. Any more insight on what was happening? It blows my mind that somthing like booting windows in SM would fix a memory issue. Any further info would be helpful
