Somehow, my default "blank' new doc document got corrupted. When you open a new word doc- you should get a 'blank' page, default name of (nothing).doc Well, somehow when I open a 'New' 'blank' doc- I see the text of an old letter- and it wants to save it by its old name as well. I know its a case of the 'blank' template being written over- but where is it? How do I re-write over it? I removed Word and reinstalled- yet a 'blank' doc comes up with the corrupted template still. I know its a case of the 'default' template getting witten over via what 'was' to be a regular word doc. But I dont have any idea where its at, and I can t seem to re-write over it- either by going after the template, or a complete re-install of word- !?? I can deleat the text in this "doc"- have all features of Word, and 'Save as' something else- and its all fine with the new word.doc saved. Until I open another 'blank' .doc- ant theres the old text again. Strange. Dont feel like I should have to completly re-load all of XP just to get to this 'default' template.... any thoughts? 2w

What version of Word do you have? I think you should startup Word, make sure the whole text is removed. No go to File > save. Files of type: Word templates .dot, .dotx. Then go to the folder based on your version: Word 2002: \Program files\Microsoft Office\Office10\1043\quickstyles Word 2003: \Program files\Microsoft Office\Office11\1043\quickstyles Word 2007 \Program files\Microsoft Office\Office12\1043\quickstyles Now look for the file Default.dot or Default.dotx, and replace it.
