    As I've stated over in your other thread, it really depends on what you want to do. It also depends on your level of technical competency.

    What are you looking for in an operating system?

    im not looking for anything, im looking to just get familiar with Linux

    LiveCDs are the best way to get familiar with various linux flavors and to play around with it non-distructively

    after reading and looking at numerous articles, it seems like Ubuntu is the best and most popular Linux desktop thus far, i think I'm going to go with Ubuntu

    good, Kubuntu is Ubuntu but with KDE, Ubuntu comes with Gnome by default[ot]so, Ubuntu becomes Kubuntu when you have installed KDE[/ot]
