buying graphics card need help please

    im looking to buy a new graphics card between £100-£150

    about my comp:

    Manufacturer : Hi-Grade Computers PLC
    Mainboard : Foxconn P4M800P7MA
    Processor : Intel Celeron D 336 @ 2800 MHz
    Physical Memory : 1280 MB
    Video Card : VT82C570 MV IDE Controller VIA/S3G UNICHROME PRO IGP
    (at the moment)

    Slots Information :
    Slot PCI : Available (32-bit) 5.0v
    Slot PCI : In Use (32-bit) 5.0v
    Slot PCI : Available (32-bit) 5.0v
    Slot PCI : In Use (32-bit) 5.0v
    Slot AGP : In Use (32-bit) 5.0v

    i would just like to purchase the best card i can for the budget i have and i really dont know anything about cards at all so i dont want to buy one that is not compatible or is no good. the sort of card im after is a card that could play rome total war at a meduim or high spec i dont know if im asking too much for that price (£100-£150)

    Well, you definitely want to check out AGP cards.

    This Radeon X1950Pro is probably the fastest card in your price range.

    One thing that could crop up as an issue is your power supply. If you don't have one that provides at least 25A on the +12V rail (or, if multiple ones--the combination of), then you probably should opt for something a little less power hungry, like a GeForce 7600GT. You'll have to crack open the case to check the sticker on your power supply to find out the information.
