Well, you definitely want to check out AGP cards. This Radeon X1950Pro is probably the fastest card in your price range. One thing that could crop up as an issue is your power supply. If you don't have one that provides at least 25A on the +12V rail (or, if multiple ones--the combination of), then you probably should opt for something a little less power hungry, like a GeForce 7600GT. You'll have to crack open the case to check the sticker on your power supply to find out the information.
