Hey everyone I have an 7900gs. When I run CPU-Z, it shows the following: http://nickj.elixant.com/cpuz.JPG Is there any way I can change it to x16 on the card? Thanks!
Sorry for the double post! I just found out that the motherboard I bought when I bought the chipset, only supports x4. It is a limitation of the board, I guess. (Newegg.com - ASRock 775Dual-VSTA ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail) Thanks for taking the time to read. I guess I will buy another motherboard this week.
Yup. However, despite only 4 lanes, you've got 2GB/s total tranfer bandwidth, which is just slightly less than the 2.1GB/s of AGP 8x.
Thanks Although the I run everything fine, with my videocard and processor (e6300), I still run all games at maximum optimization. I just want to unlock the full potential of the beast. You recommend any good motherboards? Maybe this should be moved to Motherboard section now that it is dealing with my motherboard. (Did not know that at the time )
get something by asus or gigabyte, they have really nice boards out rate now. Also get something in the 600 series chipsets by nvidia with those boards. for example Newegg.com - ASUS Striker Extreme ATX The Ultimate Gaming Motherboard - Retail LOL, wow i completely didn't even look at the price on that, lol, yeah maybe something around $150, or so lol $400 thats crazyness. But something similar to that board with those features and chipset
Depends on what you're looking for. The 680i motherboards are nice, but they start in the $200-250 range, and that Asus board has been around $400 since it hit. A P965 motherboard would be a better bet, since they run in the $100-150 range. I think MSI's P965 Neo-F is about $90 at Newegg.
