Hi guys. I need to know which is better:

    Intel Pentium 4 670 @ 3800MHz or;
    Intel Core 2 T7200 @ 2000MHz

In terms of gaming apps etc. I checked Toms hardware but they didn't have a direct comparison.
I say this because it depends on whether or not to change my processor in my laptop. I done some research but not much light: can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

The T7200 is better... plus more adapted to a laptop, defenitely go for the T7200.

Well, find out if your laptop even supports Core 2 to start with. It may not, may with a BIOS update, or be Core 2 ready right now.

Thanks & don't worry, it does.

Is there a major performance issue within the

    Intel Core 2 T7200 @ 2000MHz
    Intel Core 2 T7600 @ 2333MHz
    ?
    Because there certainly is a major price difference - such difference within £300 ($580) where I live - £0.90 ($1.75) per 1MHz

i would say its not a major difference, do you plan on playing alot of games or movies on your laptop? ...if so, more is better

The T7200 should be plenty fast. Unless you really need the processing power (if you are gaming and watching movies you don't) go for the T7200. Not to mention that your graphics will probably be outperformed by the CPU if you go up to the T7600, in which case your games will only run as fast as the GPU.

Yes, gaming on this machine will be given the priority - power and portability.
Looking into getting GeForce 7950GTX soon. The 7800's produce too much heat.

    T7200 it is - what else can I waste my £300 on :D ;)

Should come despatch is my ~25th March so I am looking forward.

    Thanks once again.

Will post benchmarks when it arrives if you like.
