I know most people these days use 1024x768 or even higher than that but does anybody here represent 800x600? I remember the good old days when my monitor was set to 8x6.
I don't use it anymore. On my laptop I use 1280x800 which is the optimum and maximum resolution. On my desktop CRT I use 1280x1024, nice and high.
Unless I'm trying to work with a TV, I don't use anything less than 1024x768. High-res is an addiction for me. Discovering I could go from 640x480 to 800x600 was pretty sweet...and then I found something even higher.
Same with me. I went from 800x600 to 1024x768. Then when I discovered 1280x1024 and got used to it, it just seems normal and right. Any lower resolutions seem inferior.
1280x800 on my laptop and 1280x1024 on my 19" TFT on the computer. On the computer in the loft it has a 19" CRT which I run at 1600x1200. 800x600 seems pointless because it doesn't make the best use of the monitor.
10x7 for me. I find this resolution quite satifying. But I remember changing from 8x6 - it seemed odd to have smaller icons.
1,280 x 1,024 on my desktop. 17" TFT 16:9 (AR) 1,680 x 1,050 on my laotop. 17" WSUXG TFT 16:10 (AR) (Could have had 1,900 x 1,200 but +£50 I don't think so).
Doesn't that give you a stretched picture? I would have thought 1280 x 800 was more suitable for a 16:9 display, or maybe 1280x768?
Yeah 1280 x 1024 is a 4:3 aspect ratio - for 16:10 I don't think it'd look great... 1900 x 1200 is an awesome resolution, for £50 I'd have gone for it!
I know a few people who still use 800x600. Whether it's because they are going blind or their hardware is ancient, or both, I don't know Personally I can't work with anything less then 1280X1024. I am dreaming of a widescreen someday...
Errrrrrrrrr... why? I much prefer my 4:3 computer display to my laptops 16:10 display. You don't get as many resolutions to choose from on a widescreen, and games don't always support them and you get a squashed picture!
Well if you're not a gamer then why choose 4:3? Widescreen is more like your natural field of view. I can understand why gamers dislike widescreen displays because of the limitations on the resolutions you can choose. The only reason I can see for using 4:3 is for games, but with widescreen displays becoming more popular more games will support the format.
I use 1440x900 (optimal setting) on my 19" widescreen and the picture isn't squashed in any games, even if I'm playing at 1024x768. I love it.
