Well i have a peculiar problem - its not a problem persay - i need to connect my computer to my DVD :) (If that is possible) My DVD is an LG LH-T250SC, and I have a TriTech TR28023 Creative SB Live! Value (CT4670) Sound Card in my PC, however i am ready to buy whatever i have to for my PC to make the whole system work, now the idea is to make my multimedia (movies, music, games) work through the 5.1 speakers i have connected to my DVD :) The procedure is something i have no expirience with so could someone please explain the whole thing :)?

So you want to use your computer sound card to output from the DVD player?

Puzzling... I have done the reverse I.E. ps2 through my pc speakers....

Unless you spent a ton of cash on the surround sound you might want to consider selling your current 5.1 setup and moving to a nice 5.1 PC speaker setup. I am running logitec z5300's for all of my media and I am quite happy. Only compaint about that is that I use the wired remote with a monitor extension cable. You can get an audio remote for your computer though.

It sounds like you are planning on using your pc as your only media player and this would simplify everything. If you ran media through your pc's speakers then all you would need for movies would be an s-video cable (providing your card has one)

To answer your question though, I am not entirely sure running sound from your pc through a dvd player will maintain 5.1. The most logical would be running component cable to your dvd's input but you would need a left and right output from your PC for that to happen. I dont think this is a simple task.

If the DVD has a digital sound input, it may work, but I'm not entirely sure what's going on. Sounds like you bought one of those integrated DVD players/receivers, and I'm not so sure that'll be an option. I'd recommend getting a decent receiver/amplifier with multiple digital inputs and just running a normal DVD player and the PC to it with digital coax or optical.
