Well, the Striker Extreme is an overpriced 680i board, so unless you can't live without it, I'd suggest going with a board from eVGA, XFX, MSI, ECS, or other brand, as most use the nVidia reference design.

For more speed, take 300GB Sata2 HDD and 1 36GB (or 74 BG) Raptor 10000 rpm HDD for your OS.

If I were you I would lay off the Quad and go for an E6600. At the moment there's no need for Quad unless you're looking into serious video editing qhich will be the only thing that makes use of the Quad cores. IF you do choose to go for a cheaper processer (btw C2D's are known to be better at playing games) then you might be able to squeeze in a Raptor like OnStock said.

    My 2 cents...

I would consider getting a corded gaming mouse and a backlit keyboard. Your kill ratio will go up signifigantly using a good wired mouse when compared to a great wireless mouse.

Spend twice as much on the sound system and go with the logitech z-5300. More of an impact on movies.

after a bit more research i have decided that the Q6600 is a definate as it can be overclocked if need be and is alot more future proof as im sure soon enough we will see quads getting utalised by games and programs in the comming months.. also it has the same clock speed as the E6600 and is only about $30-$50 more :)

    Hmm....

you may also think about getting a more powerful PSU, I'm sure that the current 650W you've got planned, will get you by, but with 8800GTX and the Q6600 quad core, a possible RAM upgrade in the future, and maybe even another GTX at a later date in SLI, then maybe 750W or even 800W may be better and may produce better stability.....just a thought....as I'm sure when I used the PSU calculator at AMD's website for my build it recommended a min. of 750W.

Big_B is the one to ask about PSU's from what I've read here on the forums .....but just thought I would mention it....after looking at you list.
