alright as you can see from the title of the thread whenever i put a cd/dvd into my drive it starts to read the disc and reboots the machine it doesnt happen all the time just most of the time started happening 2 weeks ago my psu is 500watts and is about 10 months old same with the ide cables and the drive itself being 1 year old i had 2 dvd drives hooked up i tried to unplug one to see if that would make a difference still the same problem yet somedays i can burn 3-4 dvds and nothing happens to the drive i have no idea whats going on so hopefully you guys can help me
when next tym ur system reboots, have a look in the event viewer(RightClick MyComuter > Manage > Event). Second thing you can tell us about your system specs.... Also make sure that you provide make of the PSU.
here is a picture of what my event log shows for the drive error http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/8923/sc1gw9.jpg http://img50.imageshack.us/img50/5255/sc2jt2.jpg
Go through EventID.Net might give you some ideas. Its just your CD ROM who is creating errors to make your computer restart.
