I recently bought a new dell pc but i forgot to upgrade the graphics card, so at the weekend i bought an asus en8800gts 320mb. I went to fit it but it seems dell uses different connections on the psu so i couldn't. anyone know of any adaptors or anything that i can use so i can connect it?? cheers
Assuming it's the power, the graphics card should come with an adaptor. It should be a male black connector with white female plugs at the other end.
yeah it comes with that adaptor but it is not the right one for the psu. the connectors that are on the psu r thin black ones not white four pin like normal
those are SATA power cables, are you sure there are no white ones? They should be connected to the DVD drive, it's nearly impossible for PSU's to come without them.
Oh ok, I will have a look later. i did look when i tried to fit it but I couldnt see any. so will they be coming out of the dvd drive?? Cheers
Thanks very much, will look. reading through some of the threads on this site i will probably need to upgrade my psu anyway because i think it is only 300w. cheers
Wow, that PSU is due for an upgrade especially when motoring an 8800GTS! I suggest (if you're not already) read Big B's PSU stick, very valuable information.
just got home and checked my pc, there are no white connectors, only sata. think im just going to buy a new psu, make life a hell of alot easier. cheers for ur help.
its a brand new pc!!! only just a month old. think i might have been better off building my own, thts pretty much wot im doin now!!
you'd better buy by parts and built at home a machine and put there the 8800GTS of 320mb, cause it's not a bad video card but see if you bought a "dell"
Yeah I know and I will build my own one next time. not going to do anything else to it at the moment though. only problem now is that I have vista, lol
