    You don't state what the problem is..???? what is it doing ? A little info would be nice .. Do have any cleaners ?? download ccleaner and abexo reg cleaner..

    I thought the problem might be evident in the HijackThis log - that's the point of this forum topic.

    One other thing though - once the PC shuts down, it won't restart unless I physically remove the PC's power cord (mains) and then plug it back in. This leads me to believe the problem might actually be a faulty power supply. If anyone knows this for sure, any advice is appreciated.

    Well you are half right, you should of post this under network & security then..
    If that is your problem.
    Ok now, If your power supply is acting up ,It can do some real strange stuff.
    I would replace it, or try another one to see if that helps. When your PC is running do you smell any electrical wire smell.. I have had them blow up on me before.

    Just out of interest what size is your PSU and how old is it?

    The power supply is about 3-4 years old now, and yes there is a light electrical smell emanating from the PC.

    I'm going to assume the problem is the power supply and purchase a new one.
