Used McAffee "spam killer 5.0" for awhile on Win XP home, was cookin' fine..then my computer started to slow down to a snails pace. Found out that if I deleted certain files McAffee had, it would fix it. AND IT DID! However, the program didn't work after that. Need advice on another program. Thanks, Vidman
Both programs are owned by adware..When you complete the scan, and want to delete the "parasites", you are directed to a page where you must register, and buy the product..not very free, and kinda sneaky by saying its free. Thanks anyway. Anymore? Vidman
I'm using Spybot You can get it: http://safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html Using the latest, I don't get that problem and I've never had to pay anything. Just ran it and it found a few things which it fixed. The only thing I've seen on it dealing with money has been a button for donations.
Spybot S&D seems to be the best app out there right now for 'doze spyware. As far as spam goes though, I haven't seen anything as good as Spam Assassin on the server end, and Mozilla Thunderbird on the client end. -AT
Thanks for the info, and I am currently trying Mozilla, and if I am not happy with that I will try all the other ones you folks recommended.. Regards Vidman
