Never heard of those guys, but pfSense is a trustworthy way to do the same thing: pfSense Open Source Firewall Distribution - Home It can be installed or run live. pfSense isn't Linux-based though, it runs on FreeBSD like its upstream distro m0n0wall.
me neither, it look almost too good to be true, which makes me suspicious, because you've never heard of them
Well, to be honest the whole thing seems a bit shifty to me, since they are charging US$ 399 for "Linux LiveCD VoIP Server", which is almost certainly just a repackage of trixbox. And for that matter, their live CD router is probably just a repackage of pfSense or ClarkConnect.
It's totally legal to resell GPL'ed software, change the code, etc. as long as you freely release the source changes along with the distributed code. I've been looking over their site for the last 15 minutes, and I cannot find the source code. These guys look like they might be OSS leeches violating the GPL. If that's the case, I wouldn't have anything to do with them. Maybe we should make good use of this thread and post a list of known-good open-source firewalls? I'll start: IPCop Untangle m0n0wall pfSense ClarkConnect
thankies AT that sound like a challenge to me! Papi Greensql ModSecurity Filsclab SeaWall tdi_fw AQTRONIX BTW: i'll add more later, fed up now
Just an FYI, but modsecurity is actually an apache module, not a firewall per se. It's really useful for hardening apache though! Same with GreenWall, it's a reverse proxy for MySQL to sterilize database queries before they get to the DB itself. Here's a few more firewalls I've worked with: Redwall Mandriva MNF (discontinued) Securepoint Sentry
stop showing off[ot]donkey slaps the back of ATs legs[/ot]here i am, innocently GIMPing away & you go & make me look like a thick tw4t, thank you BTW: kidding
