I have a T3604 E-machine with 512 mb of ram. I bought 1 gig of ram online and installed it. At first i got a message that memory in slot A dosent equal memory in slot B and that both slots should be equal. I ignored the message My PC worked fine and was much faster to my delight. But then acouple days later it started to shut down by itself and a blue screen would come up just before shutdown but only stay up for acouple of seconds I could not read the screen in that amount of time but it said something about recent hardware installed. My PC would also stay running but i would have a black or blank screen in which i would have to shut down pc manally. Sometimes it would start up but not boot up. id have to wait about an hour and try again then it would boot up also when booted back up a message that windows closed unexpectedly and would check online for solutions for the problems i would get a message that i had problems with my graghics card. I got to the point where my pc would not boot up at all. i had to take out the gig of ram and just leave the 512 in. PC runs normally now.Can someone tell me what i have to do to get the gig of ram to work without any problems. Thanks Mark [email protected]
Are both of your memory modules the same speed (Mhz) ? You will get problems with mixed speeds of RAM Check usually on the packaging it came from or on a sticker on the module for DDR-667 or DDR-800 or something similar.
Hey thanks for the reply sticker says GDDR2-533 1GB 64MX8 1.6V EP Id have to think that the 512 ram is different but would have to take it out to look Can i take it out and put the 1 gig in without any problems im new to this and learning Again thanks Mark
I'm sure you won't get any problems replacing the 512MB one with the 1GB one. If the problem persists then you may not have enough power (highly unlikely) or your motherboard only supports a certain speed of RAM.
i took out the 512 and replaced it with the gig everything is working fine the 512 was PC2-4200 if you two read this can you help me with one more thing i guess my graghics card sucks how can i know what kind to buy for my PC Thanks for the replys Mark
Is the 1 gig PC2-4200 ? It has to be in order for it to run right. download a program called Everest, It is hardware Identifier..You need to know if your video card is onboard or PCI or agp ...Whats wrong with yours ?
the gig is not PC2-4200 but when i ordered it the company said it was for my PC on their site i went to e-machine T3600 and that was the one they said would work so far ive had no problem with just the gig installed. On my graphics card i have a PCI When i run a Windows experience index i got all high scores except for my graphics card plus i have a game that wont run right because of the graphics card
Hey Ghostman i hope you are reading this again because you are right woke up this morning and PC is doing same thing again had to put the PC2-4200 512 back in to get it to work again i guess i better call the company up and tell them the gig is worthless to me thanks alot for the advice do you have a e-machine?
