Well I guess this is to do with Vista...
I recently bought a new Philips LS1601 computer.
However when I turn the computer on it loads up and then goes to a screen which says "Other User" when I click on that and it asks for an user name and password - But I never made an account, so I don't know the user name or password - Meaning I can't sign into the computer.
I've tried various obvious user names and passwords - "Administrator" "User" "Guest" etc. but none of them worked.
Also there's a button in the bottom left what when you hover over it, it says "Ease of access" but when you click on it, it does nothing.

I read through one of the booklets I got with the computer and it said I was meant to go through a page-by-page Windows Vista installation, what never came up, it just went straight to the log in bit.

I hope all of that makes sense.
Does anyone know how I would be able to fix this problem?

    Thanks. Ben.

have you tried f8 at startup, then safe mode then see if you are able to bypass the welcome screen.

When I press F8, I get three safe mode options "Safe Mode" "Safe Mode with Networking" and "Safe Mode with Command Prompt" I've tried all three but each time I only got the screen I did before with only the "Other User" account.

should be SAFE MODE Only, If that doesn't work, you might have to use the setup cd to fix...

Should wiping the computer and then reinstalling Vista work?

yes, a fresh install will work, then you can make your own using name and password.
Do you have a recovery disk ?

Well, when I realised that the computer wasn't working correctly, I rang the helpline and they said that they'll send me a disc to wipe the computer and reinstall Vista - That was on Monday, so hopefully I'll get the disc tomorrow or Friday. If not then I'll talk to my mums mate who could probably do it.
