I just bought the Shuttle XPC Sn41G2 and threw in some of my older PC components to give to my Dad. The Shuttle PC already comes with a mainboard. The components I put in were: AMD Athlon XP 2600+ Corsair XMS 512MB ATI Radeon 9800XT This case comes with a 250Watt Power supply and so i'm not sure if it can run with this Video Card. So if you think that is the problem please let me know. BUT, what happens is, when I go to boot up it will make it through POST and sometimes not. It will just shut down and the CPU overheat LED will come on. Sometimes the Fans will start slowing down like there is not enough power getting to them before they turn off completely. Any ideas will help. Thanks. P.S. I did not use a fan for the CPU, the case comes with an option cooling tube thingy that is supposed to work great and quietly.
Guys, he doesn't have alot of options for the power supply choice with those Shuttle SFF systems. I believe Shuttle does offer some 300-350W power supplies for their SFF's, but I'm not sure if they'll work with the one you have. As far as cooling goes, if you're using the ICE cooler included, make sure you've got a fan blowing on the radiator. If not, that could be a problem. Also, if you haven't, invest in some Arctic Silver or Ceramique. However, I would try booting the system with a minimal config. If the system has on-board video, use that and remove the Radeon 9600XT and test from there.
ya, I haven't been able to find a power supply above 250watts for my machine. I'm going to try all of your suggestions now and i'll update you. Thanks for your help.
Well, I took my video card out and my wireless net card. It still happens. This time it stayed on long enough for me to read an error message. "Now in Safe Mode. Please resetting CPU or memory ratio/frequency in the CMOS Setup" I'm looking that up now. Any suggestions?
