If you only have the Excel viewer, then that would be why. The free solution is an alternative to Microsoft Office, called Open Office. It should be able to open, edit and save Microsoft Office files, so I'd give that a go Thomas
Hi, welcome to hardware forums Sounds like you only have the "excel viewer" which means no editing of the files. You have two options 1. buy Microsoft Office Excel (Microsoft Excel 2007 Home and Student Edition (PC): Amazon.co.uk: Software) 2. Download "Open Office" download: OpenOffice.org Downloads edit: thomas234 got there before me
thanks guys have downloaded office and its still not working. have to get it working as it cuts my work down by household it be locked or something. thanks
do you get a error message or something? are you certain open office can't open this file? how did you try and open this file?
i clicked on it in my docs i tried going on file open for editing and a message comes up saying "cannot find any version of microsoft excel to open this file for editing.
on first run the appliction you installed "open office" then go to File -> Open and then browse to the excel file or right click on the file and select "open with..." this will give you a list of applications you can use to open the file, select "open office"
thanks sniper i downloaded excel trial for 60 days and got it working. will try open office when it expires. thanks a lot for all the help
