First i'd love to say this forum is great. i've been reading for a while and i find it an awesome forum with tons and tons of help to people that's why i registered cause i knew my questions will be answered

Well i'm going to build a new PC soon and i've some stuff in mind, i'll list them below and i want your opinion guys about it.

    Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R LGA 775 Intel P45
    CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 Wolfdale 2.8GHz 3MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W
    Ram: OCZ Platinum 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)
VGA: Pending ...i think i'll buy something within the range of 130-150$
    I'll use a 600W PSU
    Case: Antec 900

Also i've a friend who got me this as a gift: Cooler Master V8 Nickel Plated Copper Base Aluminum Fins 8 Heatpipes

Also of course i'll use arctic sliver 5 thermal paste, and my be i'll over clock it. but that's not the reason i post here. :D

This device will be used generally for Auto cad and SAP "construction engineering Softwares"

Also for playing some strategy games that i can't play on my console.

I'd like your opinion guys as i heard the mobo has a bad side, yet the reviews about it is awesome. so i'd like your opinion on the all over expected performance of this combination.

    Thanks guys

Hi, that's not a bad setup at all, Good motherboard with a good chipset Intel P45. I have a Intel P45 chipset gotta say its very stable, runs extrmely cool @ 30c idle and 40c when in use, all the better for overclocking also saves you replacing northbridge and southbridge heatsinks. Personally I would upgrade the CPU to a core2quad possibly an Intel Q6600? or Q8200? If your plannin on doing some serious overclocking I would recommened the Q6600 that badboy clocks extremely well, I have one and have had it from 2.4ghz to 3.8ghz aircooled, that heatsink you got given will easily keep it cool at that frequency. Your motherboard handles upto 1600mhz FSB so you could possibly push the Q6600 to 3.6ghz. Graphics card wise, at your price range you could pick up a GTX 260 (192 processing cores version not 216) got to say it's a good card definanatly worth the money. that 600w PSU will be borderline for running that setup, you should be aiming for 700W.

I might be able to get a Q8200 yet i'm kinda restricted by a budget. as in my country the components are kinda overpriced. like the Q8200 is like 180$ here while it's like 160$ online.

As for the PSU, that's the highest i can find in a good reliable brand in egypt.

If i to stick to 600W PSU what VGA would u recommend even if it's a little bit more expensive than the price range i've in mind.

Thanks a lot for your help

I would just stick with the GTX 260 (192 cores) your PSU will be able to run that card, I was recommending a 700w PSU so when gaming the PSU won't be stressed and fail quicker.
But if your not gaming all the time just using CAD etc I wouldn't see a problem with a 600w PSU. If you can't get a Q8200 just stick with the current setup im sure the dual core will overclock fairly well possibly to 3.6ghz.

Hi, nice setup, everything is compatible. Performance wise you will notice a big difference from a core 2 duo and also a pretty high gain with the gtx 260 that is a nice card you won't be dissapointed. overclocking wise not sure how far you can push that
Q8200 but I would of thought around the 3ghz - 3.2ghz frequency, your board also has a good maximum FSB of 1600mhz so you've got alot of FSB to play with but make sure you don't push the cpu to far. when you finished building and need any help with overclocking just make another post, all the guys here at HWF will be sure to help you out :)
