Let me tell you about my problem. MY PC is runnning very slow. It takes a lot of time to load Windows XP OS.
While i am playing games, it also runs slow.

My PC Configuration is given below.
    1. ASUS P5GC-MX/GBL motherboard.
    2. Transcend 2GB ddr2 ram.
    3. One 250 GB SATA hard disk.
    4. One 80 GB normal hard disk, which i purchased 4 yrs back.
    5. Intel Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz processor, which I purchased 4 yrs back.
    6. 512 MB 8600GT Point Of View graphics card.

Some say that the problem is with my hard disk, as when i am playing game, my hard disk heats a bit.
Some say that the problem is with my graphics card, as i purchased Point of View graphics card, which is making my pc run slow.
Some say that I need to replace my processor to the latest one or to AMD as it was purchased 4 yrs back.
I dont know where exactly the problem is. So, if anyone can explain me, it will be helpful.

First thing I would do is delete as many files and programs you don't need as possible.

    Then run a disk defragmenter.

Then I would use a program like codestuff starter to turn some applications off at start up so that your boot times will be much faster.

You might also want to make sure your paging file (or virtual memory as it's sometimes called) is at least 2 times the value of your physical memory (which means your paging file would be 4GB in your situation).

Do I need to increase the virtual memory of the partition in which the game is installed or the one in which my Windows XP is installed.
Also, this is happening just for the past 2 days. Before that, I was able to play games normally.
I also tried updating my graphics card drivers and installing the latest DirectX from the website.
Still it runs for around 5 minutes, then it hangs.
Any help regarding this would be helpful.

You would want to increase the paging file on the partition of XP.
