hi i realy am confussed, i follow what the internet and the new graphics card driver manual explains, to uninstall/remove the old graphics card driver and then turn off insert new gpu and switch in etc, load new drivers so i did and got black screen with no power to screen, so pluged in to vga and looked about tryed varios things like driver sweep, disabling the vga in bois, which dosnt help just remains black, but get power to screen, so im confussed, thing is i loaded back the old gpu drivers beeing a ati 9550 and still get black screen, i dont see how it would do this i have a ms-6577 mobo and in the bios i get option for pci and agp/onboard, thing is the motherboard i have doesnt support pci in the form of a graphics card, or is this refering to the pci slots i have? also i get the message no card found at the menu to the nvidia intall and then a message saying no driver was found and cant carry on with instalation, problem i have mainly is i cant boot the pc with the nvidia gpu and run the on board graphics to load the drivers, so how the hell do i get round that i recently upgraded my bios from v3.1 to v3.2 thinking maybe back date the bios? like to add the i had apsolutly no problems with the 9550 just wanted to upgrade and that from what i know my mother board beeing x4 agp would take a x8agp card, knowing that the card wouldnt run at full but thought it would be a improvement any one got awnsers as what solutions ive read to this problem havent worked screen shots the explain the matter futher thanks
yes tried that, it download exactly the same .exe file that's on the CD, which then loads the same program and runs the same menu and getting the same messages its mad that i can have a working gpu, do it by the book and i still get black screen something i have noticed is bios has the video adapter set as pci if agp/on-board is selected neither the gpu or vga works regardless if the gpu is inserted which also gives me black screen, thinking of ditching the updated bios I'm just puzzled why if the bios is set to pci would vga work that's working the wrong way round! i just haven't gotta clue and looking a 8bit 640x480 resolution isn't fun
now not even getting vga mode! didnt even touch a thing, any one think a new mother board could be in order, ive got a 2.9ghz 778 p4 and a 3.8 778 p4, looked up the compataiblity and says i need a p4 778 cpu but curently have a 478 p4 socket, could this be half my problem? ill be going for same mother board spec apart from cpu socket ie ddr, agp but x8 what you think?
Have you made sure the motherboard's chipset drivers are installed? The video drivers won't work properly without them.
yer thats something that may work but wouldnt explain the matter that i swapped gpu's and got a black screen, would uninstalling the ati driver some how mess about with the chipset driver? when i did have it working it said that the vga drivers were missing, when it come up with found new hardware, but i would have thought the driver for the on board graphics would have already been present in system32? well ill search for the ms-6577 chipset drivers, any thing else that may cause total graphics shut down, not that ive tryed it this morning but if it dosnt work im very lost its like the pc has forgotten how to use its own display drivers! could updating the bios effect any of this? i done this before installing 2gb ram then few days later after the pc was running good with no errors i installed the new gpu which of course has caused this problem!
ok cant find any chipset drivers. and the ones i do find are malware, being driver doctor, etc but still what to do if all else fails! a new motherboard i suppose!, im after a agpx8 board any how, this is only my light gamming machine as i do have one i spend far to much time on playing wow and cod4!
I wasn't able to find the drivers either, as that motherboard seems to be missing from the driver archives of both MSI and HP. It's almost like they wanted to forget about it.
Hold down F8 while starting up, after the POST screen has passed. There, choose VGA mode. Do the graphics look better, like 265 colors? Or does it stick to 8-bit colors?
well managed to get my old ati 9550 card to work under limited capabilites, basicly, on start up and on the windows loading screen i get lots of blocking, trying loading up cod4 and lfs get massive arcutexture. think thats what its called ive installed the drivers ive checked the core and memory mhz its like the 7300gt has wrecked my system!
Yeah, I can see some pretty bad artifacts in your graphics. You need the chipset drivers one way or another, no matter which card you use. Since the manufacturer doesn't have them anymore, you'll have to download them based on your chipset instead. There are different versions of your motherboard with different chipsets, so I'm not sure if yours were made by Intel, VIA or SIS. Here are links for all 3, just pick the appropriate one: Intel - Download Software, Drivers and Utilities VIA Drivers WELCOME TO SiS DOWNLOAD CENTER The next thing I would do is to install the latest DirectX for your platform, then finally the latest video drivers for your card.
EDIT ok downloaded this http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Product_Filter.aspx?ProductID=865 edit ok just tryed to open file to start the download and got this
mm thats strange now this is how intel says my display driver should follow in the device manager intead mine reads ati radeon 9550 ati radeon 9550 secondry and in display propertys should read mine read radeon 9550 so should i resart pc boot up with no gpu and use vga, hold f8 and enable vga then see what happens?
Hello im presuming you have on board vga which is the intel chipset by default your bios will look for it if its enabled in the bios eg AGP/Onboard. Id say your ATI card is for an AGP slot if thats the case windows should pick up on both graphics chipsets. The only way around it is to disable the onboard intel graphics from device manager. Reboot this should auto detect your Radeon if it screws up again reset your cmos you will need the AGP feature enabled in the bios otherwise it will not detect your graphics card. If you want the 7300 to work you must uninstall all the drivers for your graphics card. Shut down fit the card re boot this will auto detect your card and ask for drivers install for 7300 reboot and it should be installed should be no reason for it not to work just make sure you disable the intel onboard graphics other wise it will corrupt the install
ok i feel very dumb, i mean how long have i been fixing and building pc's i didnt plug in the molex plug!! :chk::chk::chk:
