    Hey everyone,

Seems I've got a weird problem, can't find much info on this.

A couple of weeks ago my custom built PC started shut off completely after 5-10 minutes after normal boot. I realized the problem came from my CPU overheating (87 celsius) so I cleaned out the entire motherboard, powersupply and CPU fan with an air can. The shutdowns kept happening so to prevent damage to my CPU, I bought a new CPU fan altogether.

So I installed a fan that was supposed to be an all-round fit, dual-core compatible, but before I could try it out I ALSO moved into a new appartment, and now, the PC won't boot at all!

When I turn the power on: I get a green LED on my motherboard, and the CPU fan starts running full speed, but the monitor is blank, there is no 'beep', it doesn't boot and I can't into the BIOS.

What could be the problem? Could I have installed the fan wrong? Could it be added strain on my powersupply? Or the wall socket in my new apartment? Is it possible the cpu got damaged when I installed the fan?

I don't think the cpu is fried because it worked fine before I installed the new fan - the PC would just shut down, I'm guessing, to prevent damage. But how do I find out?

By the way, I have a P5Q mobo and 2,3 Dual core Intel CPU

Thanks for your help, I usually figure these things out by myself but I've exhausted all my options, also I don't have the money to buy new gear just yet and I don't want to go buy parts at random.

    Thanks again.

go through the process of the build in reverse. It might help you find the issue.
