How to recover, after installing drivers for video card, but forgetting to remove old ones? Hey, I recently reinstalled windows XP SP2 Professional again to make my computer clean. Later on in the day I downloaded and installed some basic programs. I also installed drivers for my video card from the original cd. I then played some counter-strike and everything was fine. I had restarted multiple times and everything still good. I then decided to update my Nvidia drivers for my 7200 GT video card. Now, I DIDNT REMOVE THE OLD ONES. Anyways after installation it prompted to restart and I did. Now it just FAILS TO LOAD WINdows XP SP2. and gives me the options to try loading windowns again, loading in safe mode etc. Anyways I tried to use System Restore in safe mode and the computer still crashes in when trying to boot normally. How can I recover from this?
How to recover, after installing drivers for video card, but forgetting to remove In the boot options, apart from Safe Mode, you should have an option to use last known good configuration. Have you tried that? or have I misunderstood?
How to recover, after installing drivers for video card, but forgetting to remove Yes, I have tried Last known good configuration. It did not work as windows does not load normally. Also, I went to safe mode and used System restore to the last working checkpoint, which also did not work as windows would not load normally.
How to recover, after installing drivers for video card, but forgetting to remove Ok, boot into Safe mode. bring up the device manager [start-run- enter "devmgmt.msc" and hit enter-select display adapters-right click on your video apater (something like Nvidia 7200gt)-click on uninstall] this will remove the drivers. now restart and see if that helped. **on startup, you can hit F8 and select VGA MODE to boot into regular windows, just with no video drivers
