I have a IOMega Prestige external hard drive. P/n: 31763600 R. It was working fine one day. Then I packed it in my luggage for a flight. Now, it is no longer read by my computer (Mac). It powers up as I can hear it running, but the computer doesn't read it. I tried it on a Windows PC, but same issue. it says unknown device found...device ready to use, but it never shows up in Mr Computer. Any ideas? Should i just get a new enclosure?

    Thanks

    Hi,

Do you have another usb cable (or firewire, whichever it is) that you could try to rule out a damaged cable?

No, but I try to borrow one. Would that be the likely reason?
    Thanks.

Or the hard drive enclosure has gone bad too. Remove from the enclosure and connect it to the computer directly.

it could be the power issue.. remove the casing or at least replace the power unit... try to use it with constant power source.. I face same issue with my hard disc.. i jus swaped the power source.. it will surely work..
