I know the parts of a rig that I can get for almost 1000$. The only problem I have no idea how to assemble it. Would I have to follow a guide or ask a small computer shop or futureshop.

    Few rules of thumb:
    • Make sure your PSU is ample enough to supply power. Make sure it has all the necessary cables (ie, pcie power cables for your graphics card).
    • Make sure you select the correct RAM for your motherboard. For example, DDR3 RAM will only fit in a DDR3 socket.
    • Make sure to try and get the latest models possible. Aim at getting a motherboard with USB 3.0 slots, PCIe x16 2.0/2.1 slots, the works. They're cheap now.
    • Make sure you but the right CPU for your motherboard. If your motherboard states it can support LGA 1156 CPU's, get only that.
    • Make sure your case is big enough to install big video cards. An ATX form factor case is best, but keep caution and take measurements with MicroATX cases and slim cases.
    • Make sure the CPU you buy includes thermal paste. Otherwise, you'll need to purchase some. You need to apply this paste onto the CPU. Also make the CPU comes with a heatsink. Otherwise, you'll need to get that as well (Copper based is recommended).

That should be right for now. Good luck and let us know if you have additional questions.
