Hi all, I've had my Asus P6T Deluxe v2 motherboard for about a year and a half and recently my USB keyboard has stopped working. It's a Saitek eclipse v3, the problem only seems to occur on the bottom line of keys - # Z X C M , and . Have all ceased to work any more, sometimes if I press the key several times it might work, although over the past few days I don't get anything. The weird thing is that the keyboard works fine on other computers, I've booted my machine into a winPE environment and Ubuntu and the fault is the exact same across them. All, I've also tried different USB ports and a USB hub. I'm completely at a loss as to what has happened, I haven't made any modifications to my machine, this has happened completely out of the blue. I'm currently using a PS2 keyboard which is working fine, but would love to have my Saitek back! Any help or ideas would be really appreciated, if you want any more information just ask. Many thanks, Dan
Hi I probably would have gone through the same process as you! So my only suggestions are; try changing the usb legacy support setting in BIOS update the motherboard firmware Otherwise its possible one of the motherboard components overheated and got damaged
Hey Sniper, Thanks for your response Just tried out your suggestions and unfortunately had no luck. Looks like I might have to see if my warranty is still live and see if I can get it repaired on it =/ . Argh! Thanks again, Dan
@ Ghostman 1 I've tried the same keyboard on different computers and it works fine on them I've also tried a different USB one and this also does the exact same thing as my Saitek! I've got a support ticket open with Asus so will see what the have to say! Hopefully good news Thanks, Dan
Man, I never heard of this problems before, have you tried updating the drivers ? It does sound like a Motherboard problem, and those are really hard to narrow down..
Haha its a weird one isn't it! I've tried the latest driver from the Saitek website and also reinstalled all the USB root hub controllers from the drivers disk I received with my mobo - Although the way it doesn't work under winPE or Ubuntu really makes me think theres something more fundamental amiss. Think all I can really do now is await a response from Asus, with any luck I'll be able to send it back under warranty - if not I'll have to purchase a new one, which is a shame as it seems to be an all round decent board.. I seem to have been unlucky! I'll update with their response when I receive one.
yeah those were my exact thoughts too.. to isolate the problem from being software such as windows, ubuntu, winpe. but even winpe is a windows environment. just a long shot, you could try getting a boot disc that will allow you to boot into dos. in something as simple as dos if you have the same issues chances are its the keyboard. if you have a win98 bootable install disc you can try this out.
