I have been very pleased with my Acer Aspire One Netbook but now wish to upgrade to laptop and hopefully sell the netbook. Please can somebody explain how I can clear all my information whilst leaving XP installed - so that it is in 'factory condition' for a prospective buyer. Thanks
Did you get a recovery disk with the laptop? Its going to be hard deleting selected information while leaving XP intact, there just so many places the data could be stored, so pretty much a impossible task. So, the best to way to make sure is to erase your HD and install windows before selling or let the buyer install what they wish. Heres a few good articles on how you can erase your HD; http://www.zdnet.com/blog/storage/how-to-really-erase-a-hard-drive/129 http://gizmodo.com/5489933/leave-no...-erase-your-hard-drives-ssds-and-thumb-drives Let me know if you have further questions.
Thanks for reply Sniper. No there is no disk drive on AcerAspireOne D260-A. I am sure there are instructions on returning to 'factory condition' but we moved house recently and cannot find the user manual.
Its been awhile since you posted this thread but if you are still needing to restore this system. the hard disk recovery option must be enabled in your bios on the advanced tab. then there is a recovery partition that is accessed by pressing alt+f10 on the acer logo splash screen during boot up.
