well seeing as you are only wanting very generic info i would suggest looking for reviews possibly try searching with your fav search engine (my fav is Google) search for something like: Android review and also you don't specify the revision (version) your most interested in i assume revision 4.0.1 (Ice Cream Sandwich) is of most importance to you (as it's the most recent release) as with all releases it is OSS (Open Source Software) so basically you or anyone can do with it anything they like, however, you may forced redistribute the original licence but to be on the safe side personally I would release the software as OSS (with changes) you may also be interested in Android Dev (Development)
