i finally got my finger out and bought this software, i am having a bit of trouble because when i convert from avi to mpeg the file increases from 55Mb to 400mb, thats to big because that means i will only be able to burn on movies to one cd whihc is no good, am i dont something wrong because i thought mpeg files were smaller than avi? how come it has increased the movie so big as well? is there any other avi to mpeg converter out there that i can use?

The problem is when you converted things like movies into something else it mess with the size of it. When you converted yours it problaly did not compress it when it changed it over. You might want and check it could be because you have the options set-up wrong. You also might want to check that when it converted it did not leave the temp. files with it this would cause a increase in size also. When it coverts it make temp. files so it can fall back on them if it mess up or if it runs into errors. What software is it.

A good program for this that i have heard about is the Advanced X Video Converter. It converts alot of formats and i heard it is very good about the converting quality. You can find out more about it a the link below.

Just be careful because sometimes the video and audio aren't sync when your convert formats.

I've heard good things about TMPGenc. Try giving that a trial test.
