Change laptop procesor

    So i want to change my laptop procesor since i feel it lets me down when i try to do more intensive tasks (runing multiple vmware for 10-15 hours/day)
    my current specs are :

    i want to get Intel Core i7 2630QM its about 350 $
    will this procesor work on my laptop?(compatible)
    and what you guys think about this upgrade ?is it somewhat safe?

    Well, first, see if the laptop requires any BIOS update. Physically, it should work. The i7 dissipates 45W versus the Pentium throwing 35W, which isn't too bad considering all the extras you get with it, but shouldn't be dismissed either. There's not a lot of space to work with, so if the cooling can't handle the additional heat you might want to consider something else or a cooler running chip.
    I don't see any reason why it wouldn't as both you're upgrade and current chip are based on the Sandy Bridge architecture, but there are a few things just pay attention to.

    I would think the biggest problem would be getting to the CPU socket itself.
