I'm having a problem with my laptop (Itautec w7655, Windows 7 Ultimate 64bits, 4,00GB RAM, 320GB HDD, Intel Pentium Dual-Core T4200 @ 2,00GHz 2,00GHz) that doesn't happened before Every time I played some game or run an aplication that is very CPU demanding, the PC "freezes". But he doesn't freezes completely forcing me to force shutdown, but it happens that he becomes VERY VERY slow, games stay with less than 1 frame per second and with a buzzing/stuttering sound. Using process explorer, I verified what happens when the pc freezes during games. I've played Mass Effect 3 in windowed mode and let the process explorer windows behind where I can see it. When the game and pc freezes I alt-tabbed it, it was very hard since the laptop was too slow, and looked at the process explorer graphs. While playing the game, the cpu usage stays between 80 and 94 percent, but it simply spikes to 100 percent making the pc/game freeze. I've tried closing background processes, but it doesn't even minimized the problem, after the first "freeze", the next ones become more frequent and happens almost every 10 minutes. Trying to fix the problem, every time I played I changed the process affinity enabling only one core. The game runs normally but with almost half of the fps when using 2 cores. I was happy because this method doesn't produced no more freezes in-games, when, even using only one core, my games started to freeze again (Mass Effect 1, 2, 3, Assassins Creed, 1, 2, Brotherhood, Revelations, GTA IV, Forsaken Online, Fable II, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, Skyrim, Starcraft II, The Sims 3) with the same "sintoms", and the strange is that even the core that was not used to play the game spikes to 100%. After too much sorrow, I'm here to fix my problem before calling the Itautec support team, because I'm without money >.<. Only for more informations, my windows is up-to-date, and the graphic and sound cards drivers too. Sorry 'bout my English, I'm Brazilian. Thanks for your time, please help me.
Hi, If the windows process explorer is not showing which process is taking up all of the cpu time, you can try running the sys internals process explorer. It gives more information as to which process is running in the background. If it is a program causing the problem, this could help you identify what it is.
