specs: amd 64 x2 dualcore 4600+ 2.41 ghz. 4gb ram xp service pack 3 nvidia geforce 7900 gtx problem: computer keeps freezing at very random times. usually seems be associated with idleness, i.e. me not touching if for a few minutes but having programs such as a video or internet running. by freeze, I can't move the mouse, no more audio comes from the video currently displayed, nor does the video continue, and my only option is to hit the restart button. I've wiped the hard drive, removed ram sticks(im running two different kinds of ram, 4 sticks, all 1gb, 2 different brands). i've completely unhooked every cord and rehooked them all, airing them out and whatnot. I have noticed one odd instance: i can leave it idle and it will continue running if I am downloading something. something meaning a game from steam, a video file itself, but nothing on the internet browser.
Have you run your AntiVirus yet to see if it might have a Virus or Trojan? How does the computer run if you disconnect the internet? you said you wiped the drive, did that make a difference?
Pull up task manager and see what's running and then post the programs as well as which tab they're under.
