i have a dell inspiron m5030 laptop. when i boot it up, there's a blank screen, and beeps. 7 beeps to be exact, indicating that there's motherboard failure. i read a fix on dell's website, quoted as follows:

i did this fix, and it worked! but now everytime i shut down my laptop afterwards, i have to do this fix to hop on. anyone have any suggestions for more of a long term fix?

    thanks in advance.

sorry if double posting is against the rules here, but for anyone who's having this issue, i'd like to give an update about the resolution of this problem.

this is a problem that many people have had, it's because it's a defect in the model. and since it's dell's fault for the problem, EVEN THOUGH my laptop IS out of warranty, they're going to fix it. :) lucky me.

Seems to me CPU need to be checked as well.
    Try reseat the CPU.

You may also do a simple discharge on the laptop:
    1. remove all power sources including power adapter and battery.
    2. pressing the laptop power button over 15 seconds do not let go.
    3. connect the power cord only and power on the laptop again.

    Hope this helps.
