Can anyone please tell me how I can identify which Sata port would be for Even ID: 11?
"The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Ide\IdePort2."

    The ports are:

Sata1: Sandisk 120Gb SSD boot drive
Sata2: Seagate Baracuda 500GB data drive
    Sata3: Unused
    Sata4: HL-DT DVDRAM ATA device
    Sata5: Unused
    Sata6: Unused

This error randomly appears after boot but not at each boot and sometimes days go by before it reappears. The Win 7 is a fresh installation and every MS update has been applied. The driver is the latest update from Intel (thorough Microsoft update), and is also correctly configured as AHCI.

    Thanks

    Motherboard?

Probably Sata2, because SATA 3 is unused.

And AHCI is also enabled on BIOS?

    Thanks for the response WM,

AHCI is correctly configured in the BIOS.

This old ASUS motherboard is Sata2. I want to replace it but that's not possible at the moment.

This still doesn't tell me SATA port the error is referring to.

Problem is that motherboard has SATA connectors connected to south bridge and JMicron's SATA controller. Another problem is that JMicron's chip really has PATA ports, commonly known as IDE ports.

First I would ensure that all cables are properly connected and also check that all devices are connected to south bridge SATA ports.

Thanks WM. I ordered new SATA cables to replace all (just in case), as well and an upgraded power supply. They should be here tomorrow. The current PSU is a 9 year old 430 Watt Antec which works well, which I clean regularly. Nevertheless, I have concerns about 9 year old electronics no matter how good they are. These upgrades are peripheral, independent of, and yet usable in new hardware when I am forced to replace it.

It seems that in an all SATA environment, \Device\Ide\IdePort refers to the CD-DVD drive. Installed another disk drive and the disks are in the same order as the SATA port numbers identified by the BIOS as 1 to 4 and moved the CD-DVD to port 4 on the MB. Immediately, I got an Event ID error \Device\Ide\IdePort04.

Not very suprising but good thing because DVD drives are very cheap.
