    pack 3

    pack 2 or 3

when told by windows that l needed to update to pack 2 (now theres is a pack 3) l followed the links and then my computer went blank and all l could get was ntlr is compressed and then l hade to buy restore disc's. so as you probley know l had lost every thing and my computer was back to how it was when l brought it :swt: so now windows update is telling me l now need pack 3, l am so worried about doing it, even knowing that l have backed up everything this time, it makes me really unsure about doing it again. so my question is does any one know what l did wrong!!!!!!!!!!

SP2 has only just been released, so I am not aware of SP3 for XP.

I'm positive a 3rd Service Pack hasn't been released for Windows XP. SP2 is the most current. I wouldn't do the update. Probably some hoax that will screw you over.

This is what i presumed, but if debby is using the correct site to update ie, windowsupdate.microsoft.com then the only option given for Service Packs should be SP4 as it has all the necerssary updates needed to cover any previous service packs.

If you are downloading these updates or service packs from anywhere else, don't

XP does not have a Service Pack 3 released.

well, if your having no problems and everything is running fine... Then don't install it. Only install it if you notice something wrong, it's not a security update as those are fairly important.
