i am running win XP. when i first got on internet with my new puter i went and downloaded Kazaa.worked good 4 a day or two ,then funny stuff started to happen.I would notice my puter starting to slow down, then I started to recieve an uncontrolable amount of popups. Went and got Spydoctor, spybot, and ad-ware sptware removers.they all said they cleaned all up. But when i'd run the next program it would find the same files that the previos prgram had said it removed. I went through all 4 times with the same results. (DSO EXPLOIT). i removed Kazaa, still same. so I took drastic measure and reformated harddrive and started from scratch.after a day or two sqame thing again. so i reformated again. then just for curiusity i performed a seach for kazza on my hard drive (before internet connection) and i found a directory for kazaa, nothing in it but it was there. then i noticed this one time i had left my puter on downloading for a couple of hours that on my return my recieved info was in the range of 7,000,000 but my sent info was 15,000,000.when i left sent eas at 250,000. ihave norton anti-virus and formentioned free use spyware tools i mentioned. if anyone has any suggestions can u please email me at [email protected]. i did not install outlook express this time around to see if all that outgoing is from there.
If you play with fire, you're gonna get burnt. If you are going to use such programs, at least get the Lite version, or one that has a better reputation for not being crammed of spyware. The best thing you can do is to reformat the disk again, and delete the partitions. Then shut it down, wait for a minute, boot back up and install XP again. This will ensure nothing is left residing in the memory. Then don't use Kazaa again, would be the easiest option.
If you insist on using p2p programs I would suggest DC++ (Spyware free xcellent DC client) or Azureus for use with bit torrent.
Kazaa (and even the lite version, if I heard right) is loaded with spyware like a veteran ho is loaded with STD's. If you want my advice, go with . There's a free version and a version you pay for (1 time fee of $20) for some advanced features---so they don't have to resort to the spyware crap. As far as clearning the spyware crap out, [google]Spybot Search & Destroy[/google] is your best bet. It's also free.
